The world's largest manufacturer of tires, Bridgestone Corporation in Tokyo, announced on May 31, 2006 that it has developed the "world's largest-class, thinnest and flexible color display".
Empowered by the Electronic Liquid Powder technology, which was developed by Bridgestone in March 2002, the new display employs all-plastic panel, leading to flexible, ultra thin, ultra light and much larger products. Three aspects distinguish this new display from others of this kind:
- It uses a special rib structure to solve the image distortion problem when the display is bent
- New Electronic Liquid Powder enables two vivid colors (as shown in the picture)
- Ultra thin: 0.29 mm, much larger: 9 inches
Bridgestone will exhibit this display at SID2006.
